Le Bénin dégringole de 17 places dans le classement 2020 de Reporters sans Frontières

L’Ong internationale Reporters sans Frontières (Rsf) a rendu public le 20 avril 2020, son rapport annuel sur l’état de la liberté de presse dans le monde. Dans le classement fait par cette organisation, il est aisé de constater que le Bénin perd 17 places comparativement à son rang de l’année dernière.
Le pays passe de la 96e place en 2019 à la 113e place dans le rapport de l’année 2020. Cette chute drastique du Bénin s’explique selon le rapport, par l’avènement du Code du numérique dont la mise en application a fait projeter en prison, bon nombre de journalistes et d’activistes de la toile.
La récente condamnation du journaliste Ignace Sossou à 18 mois d’emprisonnement est mise en exergue dans le rapport qui dénonce une menace sur la liberté de presse au Bénin. Le non renouvellement de la convention de la radio Soleil FM constitue selon certains analystes, l’une des raisons qui expliquent également la dégringolade du Bénin dans ce rapport.
